Cant restart??

This is a great game; but I havent played in a while. I updated and didnt recognize the story so I wanted to restart. But I couldnt??? I cant restart from the very beginning of the story ! Is that supposed to happen or have I done something wrong? I think the update isnt allowing me to restart my character and the story.
